Where’s the magic gone?
It used to be that when Steve Jobs convened a media event everyone was on pins and needles in anticipation of what ol’ Jobso might have up his mock turtleneck sleeve (or in his pocket, as the case may be). Today Jobs unveiled the 4th generation iPod nano and an updated iPod Touch (plus a couple of software updates). Unfortunately, both of these items where well known weeks in advance.
I suppose that the raw impact of the unexpected new product releases of a few years ago is less important to Apple these days (and likely next to impossible to achieve). In fact, the leaked images and rumors they beget are a great source of free viral advertising for Apple these days. However, I do quite miss the “one more things” of yesteryear.
