Design Interaction 2008

Today Auburn’s student IDSA and AIGA chapters hosted what I believe was the the 30th annual Design Interaction Symposium (though no mention of this momentous anniversary was made). Paul Rossetto and Clayton Garrels of Kohler, Ken Musgrave of Dell and Terry Slaughter of the Slaughter Group all made presentations. While the Kohler and Dell presentations were interesting and informative, Terry Slaughter’s presentation really hit home with me. He implored the designers in the room to use their immense talent to help others and not just themselves. He is practicing what he preaches and I find that very refreshing.

There was a nice exhibit set up in Dudley Hall of student work. Sure would be nice if we had a display space like this at Wallace Center:

The IDSA and AIGA chapters did a great job of hosting the event and put on an apropos BBQ lunch for everyone. The banner for the event could use a little work though. Don’t we have graphic designers here? ;-)
