job hunting
With only 10 weeks of school left before graduation I am starting to crank the job search into high gear. I’m looking for a senior position with a design driven company where my skills and experience will be put to good use and I will be challenged on a daily basis. I am focusing my search on design management, marketing, project management, product development, innovation, strategy, etc. Ideally we’d be able to stay in the Southeast but I am obviously open to going wherever the best opportunity is. The main goal is to find a place where we can settle in and create a more stable environment for our three girls.
I am the only designer I know that has had P&L responsibility for industrial design, packaging, marketing, mechanical engineering, model making, and user research while making quarterly trips to China to support vendor and product development and regularly supporting sales with business development, designing & managing office construction projects, planning business strategy, making coffee, and changing light bulbs ALL AT THE SAME TIME for a major consumer electronics product company. And, that was just in the last 4 years! Prior to that I spent a number of years designing trade show exhibits, worked as a professional graphic designer/creative director and spent a year doing business development for a product design firm. I have a collaborative hands-on approach to management where everyone is expected to contribute their best work and finding one’s own path is encouraged.
