So moments later I find the photo of your Boxster (flickr)--you learn fast. Just what I was looking for.

Pentax has gotten back to the full frame arena in the digital world: the 645.

Oh. . . the price.

I would add my 2 centavos to yr. take on Canon--the lens line-up really is stellar. And I've never heard much about the Canon IQ (in RAW) being anything less than competent.

Visited your photo sites. You have a good eye, fine sense of color in particular. In your category of wheeled machines, take that eye in closer; get bits of things that tickle our memories. Seeing a whole Mini, even on a beach, is too much like an advert--that's ground that has been covered. How about it's tire track, with just a hint of black rubber. Or a reflection in a tidal pool,: a car, bicycle, roller skate. Abstract shapes to the eye, resolved into the subject by the brain. Wing it, be free form. (Here I am giving someone else advice!)

Fred-
The K-x is a great camera and Pentax makes some great glass. From my experience shooting the Pentax K10D, Canon 5D and now the 30D one can get equal results from all 3 when shooting RAW. My reasoning behind returning to Canon is my desire to get back to a full frame sensor body and Pentax has shown no interest in creating a full frame body. It's just a personal preference :-)

Here's my sequence of events:

- Enjoyed photography
- Moved through the usual (many) film and digital cameras (I was born in 1970)
- Chose Pentax for DSLR (K100D)
- Saw K100D vs 5D test and was shocked at how the Canon muddied everything. NO texture or bite.
- Bought K-x.
- Wanted to buy FA31, and did so (your review was helpful, thanks)
- Left K-x and FA31 in a cab in Hong Kong
- Bought WHITE K-x so as not to lose so easily in dark taxis
- Have lenses from 8mm to 300mm (APS-C)
- Wonder why you would go to a 30D when a cheapo K-x murders it every which way but VF. And VF isn't a plus if the results are washed-out details in the name of lack of noise.
