This is awesome! Your wife is very lucky to have such a handy guy. I would love to do this but I have a top loading washing machine and a front loading dryer. Could I still make enough clearance to have the washer on the bottom with an average height ceiling? Thanks so much!!

Low profile ninety degree connector at the dryer pointing down, flexible duct to the floor and out to the front of the washer, rigid duct along the wall for crush protection to the vent on the opposite wall.

Chris,
Two people (able bodied men). One in the closet, one outside. The dryer went in first. It came in and then up so that the person in the closet (me) could get under the dryer and guide it onto the platform. Once the back feet were on the platform I wormed my way around to connect the dryer vent and plug while my helper supported the front. Then, we just slid it back into position. The washer was connected and then slid into place underneath last. I won't say it was a piece of cake but it wasn't all that difficult either.

Hi,
Great photos & description of your project. We need to do something quite similar and our main worry is how to get the dryer in place. Our laundry room floor plan is similar to yours (door perpendicular to the w/d) and there's no room for two people to grab & hoist the dryer off the floor. Your laundry room looks even smaller, how in the world did you get the dryer up on the rack?
Thanks,
Chris

Sorry. I moved out of that house a year ago and left it behind. I have no idea if the new tenants are using it or not!

Any updates on this project? Is it still working for you? Has the plywood been strong enough? Any concerns about the dryer falling from earthquakes, etc.?

Thank you so much. My family just purchased a new home and needs to make the most of our small space. This will allow for more play room for the kids. THANKS SO much i have searched the internet and you made my day.
