Keen no more

This photo taken at 10:12am in Milan, Italy on April 23, 2013 represents the precise point in time when I vowed never to buy another pair of Keen shoes. That’s my 3rd pair of Keen Boston shoes in the trash can in my hotel room.

Out with the Old, in with the New

My current Chinese visa expires on August 19, 2012. The visas I typically get are good for 12 months and allow me to stay in China for up to 60 days at a time (not that my wife would EVER allow me to stay for 60 days). If I tried to enter China today (June 20, 2012) my visa would expire within the 60 days. The Chinese government does not like this sort of thing so I need a new visa. Unfortunately, my passport that I have had since 2003 was due to expire in February 2013. This means that my passport would expire before my new Chinese visa would. Time to get a new passport.

Déjà vu all over again

I have flown about 50 flights so far this year. When you travel as much as I do and have gotten comfortable with TSA routines, airport layouts, gate changes, etc., the little things start to make the most impact – packing light, free WiFi, noise canceling headphones, comfortable shoes, cold beer, finding a decent meal while on the run… the list goes on.

repair’d

I bought this Briggs & Riley 21″ roll-aboard about 5 years ago. Since then it has been my go-to bag for international travel and other trips longer than a night or two.

Springtime in Alabama

Last week we had tornados on Saturday then 3″ of snow fell Sunday. Today, after I spent most of the week in Las Vegas working the PMA show, my World Lit class was treated to an outside discussion on Beowulf. As they say around here: if you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes :D
